The Action & Advocacy (A&A) working group develops and executes student-generated ideas that improve the sustainability of our campus and community. From broadening healthy, low-carbon transportation choices to eliminating campus waste, this working group takes on a wide range of student-generated sustainability activities, including lobbying decision makers like SFU administration or the provincial government.
In this group, we host a suite of activities that highlight the expectations and concerns SFU students. Volunteers in this group learn how to effectively take action by running projects and events and communicating with students and decision-makers such as university administration or government.
Previous examples of work within the area include our Zero Waste Project, conducting public waste audits and assisting in implementing new recycling/waste stations. Our Carbon Neutral Project has also taken responsibilities in WWF’s Sweater Day and has done a wide range of research on energy efficiencies on campus.
